We all know the quote “good fences make great neighbors.” At Georgetown Development, we think good fences can make for amazing custom homes. A home with an artfully designed entryway can turn a home into an experience.

As small lots have become prime real estate for many home owners today in many desirable neighborhoods throughout the Washington, DC metro area, thoughtful landscaping has become essential to these home sites' appeal. One of the best ways to accent and define the transitional space between public sidewalk and private entry is with a unique fence or gate.

Take a look at some of these innovative entryways from Builder magazine and to learn more about how Georgetown Development can help you custom design the exterior of your home, please visit us at www.georgetowndevcorp.com

Net Zero Homes

Washington, DC metro area homeowners aren’t exactly known for having multiple wind turbines in their backyards in Bethesda, Md. or Mclean, Va., but more and more homes today are putting smaller green touches in their homes, inside and out to save energy and help the environment, and Georgetown Development is helping lead the charge.

We wanted to share this article in the June 2010 issue of Builder magazine that highlights four projects around the U.S that has achieved the net-zero goal by using an array of technologies, including straw bale construction, foam insulation, and wind turbines.

Net zero homes are those that produce as much energy as they use, and we think that we’ll be seeing more and more of these homes in the years to come.

So even if you aren’t ready to go solar, Georgetown Development can help you with smaller touches to help save energy and green your home from custom home design or home renovations.

A Door is Not Just A Door

Ladies and gentleman, take a look at what’s behind door number one! You remember the show; the door would open and an amazing prize was waiting behind it. At Georgetown Development, we kind of feel the same way. You open the door to the bedroom or the living room and there it is - the room of your dreams.

What if the real treat was the actual door? What if guests were amazed at the craftwork of you custom made interior doors made with translucent resins that use a variety of materials such as grass, paper, metal, fabric, or even recycled glass.

Take a look at these new doors from the Simpson Door Co. and envision how they could transform any room in your home and how Georgetown Development can help you do it. If you’re in the market for a home renovation or working on a custom home design, we can help you do it.
