Cooling down easy

Posted by gdcadmin in Untagged

Don’t deny it; you’ve always wondered what it would be like to be able to control the temperature of your entire home with the ease of one central control, kind of like the great and powerful Oz. With Trane’s new ComfortLink II, you’re dreams are about to become a reality.

Many of Georgetown Development’s DC clients, when designing their custom home are looking for an all- inclusive thermostat that allows them to control the home with one touch, and that’s one of the reasons that we love this new system from Trane. Not only is it super easy to install, but it also features a troubleshooting menu and a large 7-inch screen that’s almost 100% customizable.

Want to learn more about how a system like this fits into your custom home design or next whole house renovation project? Visit us at www.georgetowndevcorp.com to view some of our award winning homes.

Re-design the Kitchen

Posted by gdcadmin in Untagged

Sometimes, it takes looking past our own backyard in order to be inspired. Kitchen designs all over the world are influenced by the culture that surrounds them and often times; those influences can translate to a design that is completely unique.

When we came across this article in Builder magazine, we were struck by how different and out of the box these kitchen designs were and wanted to share them with you. Check out some of the innovative ways European firms are looking at kitchens and beyond. For example, we think the Elkay sink with the integrated cutting board is a must-have for any home cook and is a look that we’ve rarely seen here in the states.

We were also struck by biscotti finish on the KraftMaid cabinetry.  This off-white scheme leaves a clean look to the living space with a non-traditional color.

Want to learn more about how to incorporate these European designs in your next custom kitchen renovation? Contact Georgetown Development at www.georgetowndevcorp.com where you can view some of our latest award winning homes in the Bethesda and Chevy Chase area.

New Backsplash ideas!

Posted by gdcadmin in Untagged

Every home wants that wow factor. Whether it’s a custom built out kitchen or a bathroom with all the amenities of a spa; we’re all looking for that product and at Georgetown Development in Washington, DC, it’s our job to help you find it.

While many homes today are a little more modest that they were a few years ago, that doesn’t mean that you can’t splurge on the details. We think that the Bio-Luminum 100% recycled aluminum tiles from Coverings Etc. are a great way to bring sophistication to any kitchen backsplash or accent wall. They are made from high-quality alloy from old airplanes and are available in 6- and 12-inches.  They add the prefect amount of shine and elegance to any wall and if you are looking to add a green element to your home, it doesn’t get any greener than using 100% recycled materials.

Everyone remembers their childhood nightlight, that small beacon of light protecting the bathroom from monsters and dragons. At Georgetown Development we want our families to feel protected and safe in their homes from any creatures that go bump in the night, which is why we really like the newest bath fan from NuTone.

The LunAura bath fan features an LED nightlight that encompasses the bath fan to produce a soothing soft blue light that provides enough lumination during the night while maintaining a calming atmosphere for sleepy homeowners. NuTone is known for their eco-friendly and stylish bath fans and the LunAura is no exception. The 100-cfm fan includes a main light that’s 36-watts, is available with a round, square or diamond light panel, is Energy Star-Rated and operates at just 0.7 sones, which just louder than a whisper.

NuTone has a long line of bath fans to fit any bathroom design. The LunAura brings a modern look to any custom bathroom renovation or new design. Coming back

It’s been a tough few years for the housing market, not only in the Washington, D.C. metro area but all over the country. Even with unemployment numbers going down and the economy slowly rebounding, home sales have been struggling to bounce back.

Georgetown Development naturally stays on top of forecasting and trends not only in D.C. but across the county and one of our go-to studies is the Builder Healthy Markets Index created by Builder magazine. Taking a number of economic factors into consideration, Builder has recently released their Healthy Market Index and, no surprise, D.C. ranked #11 as one of the healthiest real estate markets in the county.

According to Builder, strong job growth is the big story in the nation's capital. Non-farm employment rose 1.4% last year, with most jobs in the service sector. The unemployment rate (5.7% in December) is the lowest of any major metro area in the country.

This being said, perhaps it’s time to take those custom home plans off the shelf and make it happen! From inception to budgeting to putting in those final touches, Georgetown Development will be there every step of the way in order to ensure the home you’ve always dreamed of.

Like other cork flooring, it’s durable, sound absorbing and most importantly, comfortable under foot. Availble in four colors, We Cork’s Eco-Nomical series is easy to install and adds a sustainable element to any home

Many of us envision the perfect morning, walking downstairs and opening the windows to let the sun shine in. Rarely does this happen, but at Georgetown Development, we aim to please! For all of those craving their Snow White moment, we would like to present the Push Out French Casement window from Marvin.

The Push Out French Casement windows is the newest addition to the company’s Ultimate Casement line. The window has traditional push-out hardware that opens with a quarter turn of a handle and features the company’s clever wash mode that allows exterior glass to be washed from the inside. Rather than the typical middle support, the two sashes join at the stiles within a single frame, like a French door, resulting in unobstructed views. The aluminum-clad window has a Kynar 500 finish and can be made in a 72-inch-by-72-inch size.

The push out window can drastically change the look and feel of any home exterior adding a level of luxury from the outside. To learn more about how Georgetown Development can help you incorporate these windows into your next custom home design or room to room renovation, please visit www.georgetowndevcorp.com.
